Urgent Plea for Support: Help Us Secure Our New Home

Manchester Central Food Bank, a lifeline for the communities of Central, North, and East Manchester, is facing a crisis that threatens its vital services. We urgently appeal to the generous hearts of the Manchester community to rally behind us as we face the looming threat of homelessness.

About Manchester Central Food Bank

Manchester Central Foodbank is an established charity serving the communities of Central, North and East Manchester. We distribute food to over 1200 people per month through emergency food parcels, 41% of these people are children. Our mission extends beyond providing immediate relief, we also support people to maximise their income through our Healthy Start Vouchers campaigning and commissioning Citizens Advice to deliver face to face support in our food bank sessions. We work with schools and advice agencies across the city, where we work tirelessly to combat poverty through family sessions, uniform projects, signposting support, and the creation of anti-poverty communities.

The Crisis at Hand

We are currently based in St Peters House, which is closing. and so are seeking support from the communities of Manchester.  The timeline is uncertain, but it is highly likely that we will need to vacate our premises in the next 6 months. As of now, we have nowhere to go.

How You Can Help

We are reaching out to the people of Manchester with an urgent plea. Manchester Central Food Bank is in search of:

  1. Secure office space for at least 5 people at any one time
  2. Warehouse space  – approx 100 square metres with electricity, access 7 days a week and access for a delivery lorry
  3. Secure parking for our food bank van
  4. A large community room, or a hall to run a food bank session in, preferably with storage in the City Centre / Ardwick / Longsight area

We have a small budget for the above and are prepared to pay reasonable rent. Ideally we need all of the above in the same building, but may need to split the above across multiple sites.  If you manage or own a building that may be suitable for some or all of the above, please get in touch. Please also ask any contacts that you have to help us search for new premises.

If you can support us by sharing this message across your social media platforms and any other paths of influence, please do. If you wish to support us as we enter our busiest winter yet with running costs or moving costs please visit https://manchestercentral.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money
