We work with trusted referrers to work with our clients to help them move out of food poverty. We expect referrers to work alongside clients to maximise their income and only make a referral to the food bank once other options have been looked at. We can only accept referrals through the Trussell Trust Data System.
We are a crisis service. As much as we try to make our sessions a friendly and informal environment, it is much better for our clients to be in a position where they can go to a local shop, or a community grocery to purchase their own food. It is not sustainable for a client to use a food bank for a prolonged period of time, this is why we ask referrers to have explored other options before clients need to access the food bank.
