A snapshot of our year

31st December 2020

Wow, what a year it has been! We are sure that we won’t be alone in saying that 2020 has been our busiest year to date. 2020 has brought a number of challenges to our operation, but in true Manchester Central Foodbank style, we have adapted to and overcome many obstacles, to ensure that people experiencing food poverty in our city were supported during this difficult time.

We feel incredibly lucky to have had the help of our volunteers, donors and supporters during these trying times, and we couldn’t have accomplished as much as we have in 2020, without everyone who has engaged with us in one way or another this year. Compared to the previous few years, we have been working at over double, and sometimes triple our usual capacity, as shown by the graph below.

A graph showing the number of 3-day emergency food parcels distributed in 2020, with some notable events from each month this year.

We wish you all a safe and happy new year!
