During the next few weeks, you may notice that we start to look a bit different here at Manchester Central Foodbank, as we begin rebranding our charity across our operations, website and social media.
Since starting in 2013, our foodbank has been and continues to be part of the Trussell community of food banks across the UK, and our rebrand is taking place in line with our partner foodbanks from all corners of the country. Last year, Trussell conducted research with a wide range of audiences, and found our shared identity, which was first developed over 20 years ago, was creating some significant barriers:
- People who needed support couldn’t easily access it.
- Food banks like ours were facing challenges locally, particularly with people not understanding our relationship with Trussell.
- Wider audiences didn’t think Trussell were clear about what we’re trying to achieve together, and didn’t feel confident that we could end hunger for good.
Together with food banks and people with lived experience of hardship, Trussell have worked to remove these barriers, and done all they can to minimise costs and reduce waste.
We’re really pleased to be refreshing how we look alongside Trussell, and you’ll start noticing changes from us over the coming weeks and months.
In the short-term, you will notice our updated brand on our social media channels and website, so please make sure you’re following us on @mcrfoodbank (Instagram and Twitter) as well as ‘Manchester Central Foodbank’ on Facebook and LinkedIn for further updates as we put these into place.
We will also be working on updating signage and documents we use in our foodbank, which will help our foodbank visitors feel comfortable, dignified and welcome at our foodbank sessions.
Those that we’re working with should not notice any changes that impact their interaction with the foodbank, but it is important that we embark on this journey of rebranding ourselves to ensure we can continue to provide the highest quality of support to those who are in need in Manchester going forwards.
